He may have even built the house for his bride, Rhoda Orton. After he died in 1841, it was owned by his brother Erastus, who also owned the house on the hill across the way. In 1859, this house was owned by the heirs of Erastus, then by Linus Hubbard, and in 1874 by Tabitha Skilton. From 1887 to 1893, it was owned by Timothy Jordan, who sold it to Martin Brennan. The house was next transferred to Lucius Leonard, and then to Joseph Gilbert in 1919. Gilbert’s wife, Carrie, sold the house to the Athertons in 1938. The acreage was never large, varying between one and half and three acres. Presently, it is just over two."
If you would like to read more on the history of this house, please contact agent! Ranch http://www.barbaratingley.com/index.php?action=listingview&listingID=4 NC0yMDExLTAxLTA0IDE0OjU0OjEx Sat, 03 Jun 2017 23:37:27 -0500 Circular drivewayA nature lovers delight!
